The 1. S-Boat-Squadron was put in order by Organization Order No. 18 - Navy as S-Boat-Training-Squadron with homeport Kiel-Friedrichsort with an effective date 01.04.1956.
Six boats of the "Silbermöwe"-class (Type S 149) from the BBFPS (Unit Klose) and from the Bundesgrenzschutz - See were assigned to the squadron.

1960 the squadron got two boats of the Norwegian Type "Nasty" and 1962 two boats of the English Type "Brave" resp. "Ferocity". These boats were to be tested in the German Navy for their suiteability to the area of operations. The "Nasty"-boats were put out of commission in 1964, the British built boats in 1965.
On the 15.03.1967 flags and pennants were hauled down on "Silbermöwe", "Sturmmöwe, "Wildschwan", "Eismöwe" und "Raubmöwe". The squadron was closed down.
