S-Boats in the Polish Navy 1957 - today The origin of the Polish S-Boat-Force is in the middle of the 50s of the 20. century. Poland bought probably eight boat of Project 183 (NATO-Code P 6) from the Soviet Union. The boats were subordinate to the 3. Ship-Flotilla at Gdynia-Oksywie after 1971. The Polish Navy bought between 1964 and 1975 a total of 13 OSA-I missile-S-boats of the Soviet type Project 205. The boats were also suborninate to the 3. Ship-Flotilla at Gdynia-Oksywie. OSA I-Boat - here RS 711 of DDR Volksmarine 1976 - Picture: Michel Deckert
As replacement of the aged P-6-boats several designs for motortorpedoboats were procuced. First a prototype, Project 663D, was built. Since this did not satisfy the Polish Navy completely, the boats was broken up and with several changes seven motortorpedoboats of Wisla-class were built in the 70s. The boats were armed with four torpedo-tubes and one AK 230. The boats also were subordinate to 3. Ship-Flotilla at Gdynia-Oksywie. Boat 454 of Wisla-Class
1984 the Polish Navy got three Small Missile Ships of the Soviet Project 1241 RÄ (TARANTUL)erhielt die Polnische Marine drei Kleine Raketenschiffe des sowjetischen Projektes 1241 RÄ (TARANTUL). From the originally common Eastgerman-Soviet Project 151 (NATO-Code BALCOM 10) the SU resigned in 1990. Two units were delivered without startcontainers to Volksmarine and classifyed as patrol-vehicles. "Sassnitz" and "Seebad Binz" were reconstructed at Peene-Werft with MTU-Diesels and other western equipment after the German reunion and commissioned as BG 22 - "Neustrelitz" and BG 23 - "Bad Düben" and got the designaion Sassnitz-class. A third boat, "Sellin", was broken up. Three more boats of this typ were delivered by Peene-Wert to Pland after the German reunion. In Poland theý were equiooed according to western standards and commisssioned as Orkan-class from 1992 until 1994.
